THE DESIGN GOALS

During my second year at University, I was part of a selected small group who were assigned a project where we had to work closely with the NHS to create a game for Children's Mental Health Services. Over the course of the project, I was required to go to multiple meetings about the production and feedback to the team. We were given guidelines and pointers by the NHS as we pitched ideas for the game to them. It was very important to us that we developed a game to satisfy the client.

TO MAKE A GAME THAT WOULD ENTERTAIN YOUNGER PLAYERS WHOSE SIBLINGS WERE SUFFERING FROM MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES
TO DEVISE AND CREATE A GAME THAT WAS HOW THE NHS WANTED THE GAME TO LOOK AND FEEL
TO MAKE GAMEPLAY WHICH PROVIDES THE MAIN GOAL OF THE GAME YET MAKE IT FUN AT THE SAME TIME

The project was to create an educational game tailor made for the NHS about mental health. The main goal of the game was to educate children about how siblings who have a mental illness in their family are feeling and how to manage their feelings about it. The NHS said that the gameplay was to link back to pages on their website about such cases so the main goal of the player was to collect stamps which then opened the relevant pages to them.
